Children are an important part of our St. Andrew’s community. We are fortunate that we have a loving staff of volunteers who are dedicated to nurturing these children.
Worship Center is available Sunday mornings for children 3 years through 5th grade. At the beginning of the 10:00 AM service, Fr. Mike calls the children forward and gives them a mini-lesson which ties in with the readings for the day. Then they are sent off with a prayer from the congregation.
Downstairs, the children are divided by age into three rooms. Children learn about the Christian and Episcopal traditions through Biblical stories that are experienced through a Montessori-style of teaching with three-dimensional figures and hands-on activities. After the story for the day, our young worshippers have a time to respond to the story in a variety of ways, including crafts, art, music, prayer and their re-telling of the story.
The children rejoin the adult congregation during the “Peace” and are present with their families for Holy Communion.
The Worship Center program year runs from the Sunday after Labor Day through the Sunday prior to Memorial Day. There will be no Worship Center meetings during the first two Sundays in April.

For the past eight years, St. Andrew’s has held an annual week-long Vacation Bible School. This year’s exciting event will be held during the evenings of June 16-20, 2008. The program is enititled Jerusalem Marketplace . This year VBS will be held at our neighboring church, Faith Lutheran, on the corner of Three Mile and Fuller.
Last year there were over sixty participants, both children and adults. We were able to explore life in Bible times by visiting authentic marketplace shops, visit the Synagogue, play games, dance and sample various foods to discover life as it was when Jesus walked the earth. Below is a gallery of pictures from VBS. If you would like more information, please contact Director of Christian Education, Jennifer Saelens.
