| Dear Friends,
As some of you have noticed, change is occuring in our Christian Education programming.
Nurya Love Parish has resigned as Director of Children's Ministries in order to focus on her seminary classes at Seabury-Western Theological School and her preparation for priesthood. As part of her ordination process, Nurya will continue her ministry with us as an seminary intern. So, while she will not be specifically involved with the worship center program of the parish, she will still be very much a part of our staff and our parish life.
Kay Smith, our former Assistant Director, has "stepped" into Nurya's former position as Director of Children's Ministries. She will now be overseeing the Sunday morning children's formation and the Wednesday evening children's Oasis program. Kay has served in and directed Worship Center programs for more than twenty years; in addition, she is a graduate of the Episcopal Church's Education For Ministry program and has a certificate in Spiritual Formation from the Dominican Center. We are grateful to be able to benefit from her experience and education.
Because Kay also holds a full-time position elsewhere, Christine Wernette has been hired as an assistant to Kay. Prior to staying home with her children, Christine taught school at Knapp Charter Academy. She has long been associated with the worship center, and seemed to me to be a perfect fit for this position.
Also, as I am sure you are aware, this summer we are offering a Sunday morning education time for our children. Kay and Christine are sharing the leadership of this program. It begins at 10:00am and will be held each Sunday morning except on the July 4th and Labor Day weekends.
St. Andrews continues to be blessed with wonderful parents, children, staff and volunteers. The life of the entire parish is enriched and graced.
In God's Peace,
Fr. Mike
